Clermont-Ferrand is strategically placed: the city is situated in the heart of France on the main highways to Northern and Southern European countries and is the natural gateway to the vast Massif Central area. Communications are improving constantly, and particularly since the construction of the Millau viaduct and the new Bordeaux motorway, Clermont-Ferrand has become an important crossroads in France.

  • The A71 motorway takes you to Paris via Bourges in 3 hrs 30 mins.
  • The A75 the “Méridienne” links Clermont-Fd to Béziers and Montpellier, by the Millau viaduct, placing the city only 3 hours from the Mediterranean and opening the door to Spain.
  • The A89 leads to the Rhône-Alpes region and offers not only a link between Clermont and Lyon in 2 hours, then on to Geneva, but also easy access to Saint-Étienne heading towards Avignon, Marseille and Nice.
  • The A89 runs to Bordeaux in 3 hrs 30 mins and then leads on towards Biarritz and San-Sebastian.
